.Xmodmap to type username/password in kdm

Hi, i'm trying to use xmodmap command to load a system wide .Xmodmap, in order to be able to type my username/password in kdm login screen, but i can't.

The problem is my "a" key doesn't work, so i use the context menu key instead. But when logging in (before successful login) this isn't appled.

Is this even possible? I've tried modifying the scripts in /etc/kde/kdm/(Xsession, Xstartup, Xsetup) whithout success.

using slack 13.37

Not sure, but I think the greeter is running before X has started. It has a config file, which on Fedora is /usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc, but I don't see any keyboard options. If you're the only one with access to the computer, you can set automatic login there.

Thanks for your reply, smallpond. Yes, it seems i'm going to have to use automatic login,
external keyboard or replace my laptop keyboard.

Or go back to runlevel 3 :P

Anyway if somebody knows another solution, let us hear it please.

Meanwhile, i'm going to check out on that .kdmrc you mentioned, to see if i can find something else.
