xfce4 and current

Hello,

I updated my slackware box to current.
But when i start xfce4 i don't have a background.
And when i leave xfce4 then i see a message that xfce4-panel is missing.

Does anyone have xfce4 working or can'r xfce4 working in current.

I run KDE4 but just checked and it works fine for me. Check "slocate xfce4-panel" (obviously having ran updatedb as root) to see if you have the app. Maybe try to reinstall xfce-4.6.1-i486-1.tgz package ?

-current uses XFCE 4.6 and 12.2 uses XFCE 4.4 . Unfortunately the XFCE developers changed the config files and the preferences import tool is rather erratic. If it messes up your settings it is easiest to back up the old XFCE settings and start a new profile. Just exit XFCE and rename ~/.config/autostart ~/.config/thunar, ~/.config/xfce4 , ~/.config/xfce4-session and anything else XFCE related.

Does xfce4-panel start if you run it from an xterm? If not, I would reinstall XFCE, as bgeddy suggested. Also, do KDE and fluxbox work since you upgraded? Does XFCE work under a different user?

Hi guys. I've tried all this solutions you've posted... Nothing's working to get my xfce4-panel running again...

Everything is OK but panels. Do you have any other suggestion? Uninstall xfce4-panel and re-install? If so, how can I do this?

I'm sorry, I'm just a beginner on Slack...

Thanks for any help.

Hi charlie_lab. As I told before, I e tryied all the suggestions posted here and nothing worked for me. So yesterday I started to try stupid things... As a newbie I have this right (eheheheheheh...). And I've found a .cache folder inside my home folder. I went there (/home/.cache) and erased all Thunar* sessions.

Now my panels are back and everything is working fine.

Problem solved!

Thanks to you all!
