Are you trying to say that the XFCE package didn't get installed?

You can reinstall a package by mounting the install CD/DVD, or simply download it directly from one of the mirrors. Then it is just a matter of installing with "installpkg". For example:

Code:
wget ftp://slackware.mirrors.tds.net/pub/slackware/slackware-12.2/slackware/xap/xfce-4.4.3-i486-1.tgz
installpkg ./xfce-4.4.3-i486-1.tgz
You can then use the tool "xwmconfig" to set which desktop environment you want to use by default.
