XDM, Cygwin, XP issues on SL10

Hello.

I just moved a Slackware 9.1 box to Slackware 10 (clean install.) I am trying to open a remote X session on the SL10 box from Cygwin running on Windows XP. This was working fine when SL9.1 was installed and I can still succeed on a SL8.1 I have here. In Cygwin, I am using "X -query hostname" to start a session. (I have used the IP address as well to rule DNS out.)

In /etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess, I have the following line modified:

* #any host can get a login window

and, in /etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config:

!DisplayManager.requestPort: 0

Then, I started xdm (which is coming up fine on the local console.)

I may be wrong about this, but I think these were the only changes I made on the SL 8.1 and 9.1 machines.

I cannot connect to the SL 10 box. I have read through several xdm how-tos with no luck. Has something changed in SL10...is it something to do with X.org?

Thank you for any help...I'll take a RTFM if you can point me to the one that will work for me!

I have kdm and gdm both working not (not at the same time, of course.)

These appear to be much niftier and I can certainly settle on one of these. However, it will nag me for many moons as to what the problem with xdm is, so, if anyone has any thoughts, please go ahead and post them.

Thank you.

Check the output of "ps ax" to see if X is running with the tcp-nolisten option.
