X11 refusing to start HELP !!


Hi ,
i installed slackware 10.1 and went through the standard installation procedure . I logged in and when tried to start GUI through startx
i got the following message inXorg.0.log.old

More important than the monitor would be the type of graphics
card ... does the RAM that xorg spotted match what you know
to be physically installed?

i have a 256 mb ram ! how to correct the problem ..
.i guess that your point is that xorg is no ttaking the ram size correctly ?

HI got over the problem
actually i was installing slackware for the first time and without any help...could not get any worthy documentation
on the installation , hope to write a basic guide in the coming futue after familiarising with its details


all i was missing was

XORGSETUP

AND THEN STARTX

got into gnome ... now looking how to switch desktop to KDE and others

To switch desktops, use

xwmconfig
What that program really does is copy over /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.<name>
to ~/.xinitrc
