Installed Slackware 11. Took a few tries, but I got it working. After loading into the command prompt, where I'd type "X" to get the desktop, (KDE, XCFE, FluxBox,none work at all), I get a blank screen with only a moveable 'x' for a cursur.
I get back to the text screen via 'ctrl+alt+bksp' and the only 'error' I can see is these lines:
Could not init font path element /use/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/CID Removing from list!
(then)
FreeFontPath: FPE "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/" refcount is 2, should be 1 ; fixing
I've tried every resolution and re-installed like five times....no luck.
Please, help me get her running full-bore! I want to get Slack up because, well, I like it.
One more bit of info, I have not tried any other Linux distros on this setup.

Alright! Got KDE to load all the way! I must have mistyped when I tried startx before 'cause it's working now...
However, my ethernet is apparently installed and I've configured it in the OS, but I cannot connect to the internet. I found eth0 in the network configuration part of the desktop, it's got a green checkmark, but cannot connect to the internet....
Now, I'm truely lost in this area. I've always given up when hardware doesn't work in Linux.
BTW, I've got hot swap bays in the computer with another drive running XP Pro, what I'm on now. All other specs are the same.
