X Session Menus
Hello!
OKay, I just installed Slackware with some of the X applications. Now when I start xfwm, there are no menus with programs to choose from. Will I need to add all the applications manually or what? Thanks! Mords |
Try running /usr/bin/startxfce4 instead of xfwm, that should start the whole desktop instead of just the window manager.
Edit: Mmm I think I understood wrong, what did you change? The menu config file? You didn't change anything? And how are you running X? |
Thanks...
What I mean is is that in the usr/X11/bin directory there are many X applications that I don't if they are under any menus in my xfce windows. So my question is if I need to manually install them? thanks again, Mords |
Yes, the window managers won't autodetect them for you. I think KDE or Gnome have a function to find executables that are not on the menu, you'll to check that.
Also there are some 3rd party programs to generate menus for different window managers, they're very usefull. They can scan all the exec files in given directorios and generate a menu for all of them in different WMs, just do a search on the web and you'll find them. |
