You can check it out in /var/log/packages .... Open up a terminal
cd /var/log/packages ... then ls to check the list of packages installed on
ur box ... if you have Xorg installed it'll either be x11-6.7.0
or the new version x11-6.8.1 or you might still have XFREE86 installed
Neway /var/log/packages check it out.

For the second question, no. X.org is a seperate project started by former developers at XFree who were dis-satisfied with the direction being taken in the political side of things at XFree(license and such).
