X and keyboard mapping

Well, I've got following problem.
I set all features, for example polish font and coding to see some letters, which are only in polish language. Then I wanted to set also polish keyboard mapping. I edited /etc/rc.d/rc.keymap and I set there right map (pl-jb.kmap). And everything works right, I mean, I can write polish letters but...
..but before I start X. As I said I can write polish letters only in console. When I type startx (I use IceWM) everything goes wrong, I mean I still cant write it (but I can see polish letters). What would you advice me to do? I supose lots of you use special keyboard map, because a few language have got it's special chars.

Edit /etc/X11/XF86Config

Find
Option "XkbLayout"
and set the option to pl (rahter than us, e.g.).

Cheers, and God bless,
Tink
