Woo! Slackware 10.1 released today!
Now I can't wait to get home so I can upgrade.
|
Bwahahah.
:-D And to think, I'd almost become a gentoo convert. --Shade PS -- USE THE TORRENT -- It makes it so much faster for all. Ports to forward from behind a firewall/router: 6881-6999 I'm getting a steady 330KB/s download speed through bittorrent. edit: up to 480 KB/s now :-D |
Woo hoo!!!!!
|
I'm providing my up pipe via bittorrent for all to use.
|
Don't forget... make a donation if you're downloading the ISOs, or buy a set of official CDs! I think Mr V could do with a few quid in his back pocket following his recent medical escapades.
|
As long as I know, Patrick don't want donation. He said that it is better if you donate money to tsunami victims or something like that.....
|
he's just being humble. I know he needs our donation. :)

help with bittorrent
I've never used Bittorrent before, but have a few comps
onine 24/7, so if someone could help me get started, I could help seed. I installed bittorrent-3.4.2-noarch-1.tgz and went to http://www.slackware.com/torrents/sl...all-d1.torrent and opened the link and got a window with btdownloadcurses.py which says: Quote:

Okay, I am downloading...but it's the slowest d/l
I've ever experienced. Quote:

Yes, if you see my post above, I listed the ports you need forwarded to your machine.

$ cat /usr/doc/BitTorrent-3.4.2/README.txt but just started and it's all Greek to me. If you could possibly help... I have an ADSL connection, with a static IP to my D-Link router. I just don't know what to tell you or what to do. |
Download azureus :) it's clean simple and X compatible :p
|
if you have a firewall up, maybe switch it off, just to try.
i have azureus running for about 30 min.'s, but still 0 seeds/peers. so no byte coming my way. :( maybe i'm just on the wrong spot of the world. well, i'll just give it some more time... egag |

We've got 5 comps here, and I've been out of the country for a couple months. I wanted the new Slack to put on a notebook. I think my router is probably as much the culprit as anything, but someone knowledgable would have to help me at this point. I read the BitTorrent file I mentioned above, and if it requires a web server like is says, then I'm out of luck. Don't have one running, and don't intend to, either. If you have any advice I'd appreciate it. I'm out looking for azureus now... |
Definitely gonna buy this release to help out. A few months ago I was really worried about it's future, but I think I'll keep lending it my support and using it as my main distro:)
