wireless problem with my laptop

Hello Everybody,
I just installed slackware linux and i have problem with my wireless after some searching i understood that the solution of my problem was to install wicd network manager but with slackware is a bit difficult for me as it does not have a good package manager or if it has one i am not sure.
Can you tell me instructions on how to install it.From sites to commands.
I really like slackware but i have a problem installing tarballs , generally from the start that i had ubuntu...
Thanks everyone in advance!

Wicd is in /extra on the slackware install media. To immediately install it:

# installpkg <path to /extra> wicd...txz

However, there are other "package-management"-type* ways to install it, via pkgtool or slackpkg (my personal fave..), eg

uncomment a suitable mirror in /etc/slackpkg/mirrors, and after running:

# slackpkg update
# slackpkg install-new
# slackpkg upgrade-all
This brings your system up-to-date,

Then,

# slackpkg install wicd

will install wicd.

You can also download the package from a suitable slackware mirror.

* as far as package management is concerned, Slackware, ultimately has the best package management system: YOU.

cheers,

You must run slackpkg as root...otherwise, we'd need to know the exact error message to help you.

You must make /etc/rc.d/rc.wicd executable:

# chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.wicd

Then, start the daemon:

# /etc/rc.d/rc.wicd start

Then, as user in X:

$ wicd-client

cheers,

When i write slackpkg install <program> it just says: Command slackpkg not found.
Wicd does not open either.
When i write wicd-client in the terminal i get this:
/usr/bin/wicd-gtk: line 12: /usr/bin/python: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/wicd-gtk: line 12: exec: /usr/bin/python: cannot execute: No such file or directory

Any ideas?

Anyway i just fixed it.
I did a clean install and i installed all packages even KDE
but i chose XFCE as my default DE.I dont load modules of KDE or GNOME so
i dont loose more RAM and i dont care for my hard disk's space because i have enough.
Any way thank you mrclisdue.
