wireless lan, kernel compile/rc.modules

Hey all.

1. I got a Acer Travelmate 4501LCi with an Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG which is very close to working now. I've added the firmware, ieee80211, drivers and the tools needed. Output from

Code:
ifconfig:

eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0E:35:4E:E4:A7
          inet6 addr: fe80::20e:35ff:fe4e:e4a7/64 Scope:Link

          Interrupt:10 Base address:0x4000 Memory:e0208000-e0208fff
Code:
iwconfig:

          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:off

Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:13
Code:
lsmod:

Module Size Used by
ipv6 232384 6
pcmcia 31720 0
pcmcia_core 35792 1 pcmcia
ipw2200 175496 0
ieee80211 47364 1 ipw2200
ieee80211_crypt 4744 1 ieee80211
Guess it's working as intended. Trouble is that I know I have to edit a config file somewhere but do not know which nor what to add. The wireless card (eth1) will only be used at school for now, I need it configured for dhcp and activated at boot. Will it conflict with the wired eth0 which is configured with a static ip, subnet mask and gateway?

2. I've been trying to compile a 2.6.13.2 kernel. Mostly got it working and would appreciate if any would have a look at the .config. Any suggestions, tips and tricks will be greatly appreciated. The .config can be found here. Speaking of kernel compiles, I recently saw a post here at LQ with a command to rebuild the rc.modules against the current kernel.... figures that I cannot find it now when I need it.

Running Slackware 10.2 with 2.6.13.2

Thanks in advance. Regards.

The file you are looking for is /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf. Change the value USE_DHCP[1] to be "yes".

Thank you. However, kwifi tells me that I'm connected to the network but I'm for some reason not recieving an ip adress. Unless there are some log files I can copy from I cannot provide any details before monday. Anyone got any ideas? As for the other questions, I'd still appreciate a little help.

Thanks. Regards.
