Wireless internet not working - Intel Corporation WiMAX/WiFi Link 6050 Series

Figured it out after installing a later version of the iwlwifi-6050 on linuxwireless.org

I'm pretty much a linux newbie. I've reinstalled Slackware 4 times today because of things I've messed up along my way, after upgrading the linux kernel I've had issues with getting back to desktop, so I'm on a clean slate right now with the exception of installing wicd. I need help since wireless is not working.. My wireless worked fine out of the box with Ubuntu, so I don't understand why it is not working now...

Using Slackware 13.1, Kernel 2.6.33.4

Issue:
Code:
bash-4.1# ifconfig wlan0 up
SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory
Code:
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wlan0 IEEE 802.11abgn Mode:Managed Access Point: Not-Associated
          Tx-Power=15 dBm
          Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:off
/lib/firmware

so then mv to /lib/firmware/?
Code:
iwlagn 0000:07:00.0: firmware: requesting iwlwifi-6050-4.ucode

yes, move it to /lib/firmware
if it's not the correct one, then probably you need the newer one available on -Current only
Code:
n/iwlwifi-6xxx-ucode-41.28.5.1-fw-1.txz: Added.
Microcode to support Intel 6000G2A, 6000G2B, 6150BGN, and 6250AGN wifi.

It's still not working, getting same Ifconfig error after rebooting, and dmesg I posted above.

Hm.. it provides iwlwifi-6050-5.ucode, but what you need is iwlwifi-6050-4.ucode
i believe it's supported in older kernels, but it has been updated since newer kernel

this is untested hack: try renaming iwlwifi-6050-5.ucode to iwlwifi-6050-4.ucode and see if it works?
