Unhappy Wiped Entire Hard Drive and Want To Install Slackware

While trying to get rid of Winblows from my laptop, I slipped up and instead wiped the entire hard drive, and now can't boot anything except for my trusty Knoppix CD. I've only been using Linux from Knoppix for about a month now, but I'd like to install Slackware onto the newly emtpied hard drive. Can someone at least point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Welcome to LQ Firstly, go to http://iso.linuxquestions.org/ to get the Slackware iso - note: version 11.0 is imminent if you are prepared to wait, otherwise 10.2 i the current release version.

Then check out http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/answers/LQ_ISO for instructions on burning your iso file. Then go to http://www.slackbook.org/ for installation instructions and finally go to http://shilo.is-a-geek.com/ for configuration options.

I'm sure that others will come by with other links, but these will get you started.

Incidentally, this is the official Slackware forum, so we are very able to help you.

Oh, and the Slackware website: www.slackware.com

Good luck

Thanks! I think I'll just hang in with Knoppix for now and wait for 11.0. I'll be sure to check out those links as well.
