Wine, and WC3, Frozen Throne

Ok, this time it's for real, since I'm going to sleep after making this thread.

I tried installing the latest wine (.9.29) and the one before (.9.28). I can install WC3 just fine, but when the first bit of the expansion is installing, it hangs, and eventually I end up killing the process after no progress is made. Is anyone else having/had trouble with this? How do I fix this?

(ok, off to bed, so this time people will actually be able to respond before I solve it. :) )

What error messages does Wine provide you (you did launch it from a terminal or so, didn't you)? It's always a start to read those..

It's a known fact that when something doesn't work with Wine, it's not uncommon; it's also known that different versions may be able to run different things, so if an older version X can run something, newer version Y might not. So, if you bear, try some more versions if it's so important, or wait for new one(s), use Cedega or at least read Wine's site and if you didn't, Google, for information if it's even known to work at all.

I thought Cedega was geared towards gaiming, not Wine.

I've heard some good success stories with wine, and as such I'm attempting to use it.

I never do get any error messages. It just hangs forever. Is there another location to look for errors maybe?
