Windows 2000 machines with a Linux Server
I've been doing some Google searches for information on a particular type of network arrangement and I am not finding a whole lot of help. I'm trying to learn information about having a Linux server at a company and have it accessed by Windows 2000 machines for the employees. Can those Windows machines run Windows software that is stored on a Linux server?
This sounds like a REALLY stupid question, BUT.....what should I Google search? I'd love to learn. Thanks! |
Ok DUH....I believe SAMBA is the service that provides Windows machines access to a Linux share. I will look into this further.

Yep, Samba is the way to go. Maybe you will get some ideas of how to implement Samba for your Windows clients from this Wiki article I wrote: http://alien.slackbook.org/dokuwiki/...lackware:samba
