will mono work on slackware?

Too many variants of C now days but I want to try this C# .net thing.
I found the mono site and it looks cool.
The download page was for suse and redhat.
Has anyone tried installing mono on slack?

If it's a RedHat RPM, you can always convert the RPM to a Slack package with rpm2tgz.

In all honesty, I've never heard of the program, let alone used it. My guess would be that it will probably work. Just remember to download the FC1 package if it's a choice between FC1 or FC2. FC2 has some dependancies that fail on Slack 10.1 (but may work on -current. I stick to numbered releases.)

The best way to see if it works is to try it. I'd suggest using the RedHat RPM so that it's easy to remove if it doesn't work.

As listed here: http://www.mono-project.com/Downloads
You've a binary installer that will work with all distributions.
Also you could try to compile it from source making packages of it using checkinstall or some SlackBuild script.

The Mono installer works pretty well on Slackware. You may have to install parts of GNOME to be able to use monodoc and monodevelop.
