wicd issues

Trying to set up wicd on my little HP 1000 netbook. I am not sure if I have a module conflict of some sort or if it is a problem as described in the wiki
Quote:
If you want to use wicd, you will have to remove any network interface configuration information from /etc/rc.drc.inet1.conf in order to prevent a struggle for power between wicd and Slackware's rc.inet1 script.
Here is some data
Quote:
lspci | grep -i net
01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 04)
02:00.0 Network controller: Ralink corp. RT3090 Wireless 802.11n 1T/1R PCIe
Quote:
wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
Could not read interface wlan0 flags: No such device
Failed to initialize driver interface
I modprobe and modprobe -r about any module starting with rt2. Just cant get this to work.
Quote:
lsmod|grep rt2
rt2800pci 6955 0
rt2800lib 28263 1 rt2800pci

Re: wicd issues

I just upgraded to RC5 and my wicd didn't work at first either. I had to install wicd from the extra/wicd direcory as the upgrade didn't do the extras. It's now working as always. Night try this simple step and see if it works for you.

Well, after an overnight break, wicd seem to be working. The problem is now with the interface. I get the classical message "wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Network is down". That should be straightforward...
