why removepkg cannot find software I have installed?

Today I installed wine for windows software, however, then I wanted to remove it .
The point is that I when I tried to remove it from virtual console by using "removepkg" ,it displayed some messages:"Can't access /var/log/packages/wine*: No such file or directory.
No such file:/var/log/packages/wine: can't remove"

Why the installed packages didn't appear at /var/log/packages/ ?

Code:

ls -al /var/log/packages/ | grep wine
Edit: How did you install Wine exactly?

did you install the package from source or did you convert it to Slackware's native format (tgz/txz) ?
removepkg will only handle packages that were installed from Slackware's native format

When software is installed outside of the the package management system you will need to manage the software yourself. This includes updating and removing the software. This also happens with other Linux distros like Fedora and Ubuntu. You may be able to run

Code:

make uninstall
from within the directory that contains the Makefile for WINE to remove the installation.

By the way, WINE is available as a slackbuild.

WINE as a slackbuild requires multilib to be installed. AlienBOB's repository has multilib packages and also has a build of WINE also.

It's all located here: http://www.slackware.com/~alien/
