Why's My KDE Printing Busted?

When I print in KDE, the fonts are much too large. They aren't when I print from Gnome or the command line. Using CUPS or lprng makes no difference.

This is on Slackware 10, but I saw the same behavior on -current and 9.1. The printer is a little Brother 1440. Ghostscript appears to be using the sme font for everything.

Should the printing manager dialogue show a series of fontpaths? Should I be able to add paths? Mine shows no paths. Entering paths has no impact. "Use embedded fonts..." is selected. Printing breaks altogether if I deselect it.

I've created links to my TrueType fonts in Ghostscript''s font directory, rebuilt Fontmap, and verified that Ghostscriopt sees these fonts. However, it continues to use the same incorrect font to print everything.
