Thanks! I had forgotten about the Xmodmap file. I guess it's just a function of how Unix/Linux evolved, but I still find it odd that the command line console and X windows have different key maps.
It's a good system for allowing flexibility. But, flexiblity usually bring along complications, also.
If you wanted to only do this when running WindowMaker, you could place an xbindkeys command in your wmaker autostart file to accomplish this.
