Which Tape Archive Software

I have just installed a 4/8 GB DAT tape into my machine but i havent got a clue which software to use to make backups or restores.

I would be very grateful i someone could recomend one to me.

Which ones are installed as standard on slack 10.1?

Thanks

Have you tried KDat?
Comes with the KDE desktop..

From the Help for KDat:
KDat is a tar-based tape archiver. It is designed to work with multiple archives on a single tape. KDat was inspired by two separate goals. The first, was to provide a nice, GUI front-end to tar that supported the fast selective extraction features of the dds2tar program.

tar and mt are all you need.

Tar will be installed of course, and mt would usually be installed as well.
