Which Tape Archive Software
I have just installed a 4/8 GB DAT tape into my machine but i havent got a clue which software to use to make backups or restores.
I would be very grateful i someone could recomend one to me. Which ones are installed as standard on slack 10.1? Thanks |
Have you tried KDat?
Comes with the KDE desktop.. From the Help for KDat: KDat is a tar-based tape archiver. It is designed to work with multiple archives on a single tape. KDat was inspired by two separate goals. The first, was to provide a nice, GUI front-end to tar that supported the fast selective extraction features of the dds2tar program. |
tar and mt are all you need.
Tar will be installed of course, and mt would usually be installed as well. |
thanks, i thought tar would be, didnt know about mt.
i dont use kde , but thanks anyway. |
