Which is the kernel source

On the ftp, what's the difference between the kernel source in '/slackware/k' and '/source/k' (version 9)?

Thanks,
Eoin.

On Slackware 9, the kernel source is not provided in the CD (due to CD space limitation). Therefore I would assume that in 'slackware/k' it is just the binary kernel. And you would be able to get the source from 'source/k' or you can go to ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/ to get the source you want.

I know it's not on the CD. There are no binaries in 'slackware/k', I think kernel binaries are in 'kernel/'. It's source in both directories, both look like kernel source so I was wondering which was which.

What are the package names? If its the same package name, its probobly the same.

Or, one could be the current kernel (2.4.21) and one could be the kernel that came w/ Slackware 9.

If you want the kernel source that matches the kernel included with Slackware 9 (2.4.20), you have to download it, it is not on the CD.

You can download it here.
