Which file in slackware similar to /etc/sysctl.conf in redhat ?

I have to chage some paramete of my slackware buffer in /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax . But when I restart my PC , it returned back to the default value .
I've read in document , it tell me to edit the /etc/sysctl.conf as adding kernel.shmmax = < the value I want > .

But in slackware I can not find the /etc/sysctl.conf . What file in slackware is similar to it ?

You're trying to install Oracle, right?
Here is a link that might help you: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thre...message=510088
He uses /etc/rc.d/rc.local

This file does not exist by default, you can create it.

It is not present by default, but if you create that file /etc/sysctl.conf yourself, then slackware will automatically run "/sbin/sysctl -e -p /etc/sysctl.conf" everytime you boot.

Indeed, but I now have another iota of information that I may/may_never need and that I may/may_not even recover if/when the time comes.

Plus, I can now go nap, since I've learned something new today.

cheers,
