wheres the beef?! mirror sites lack files...


i downloaded a several versions of slackware using wget and i can't seem to find a mirror that has all the files, some have more than others, but still md5sum scrolls though bunches noting it couldn't find them.

Some takes more time than others to mirror all the stuff. If you're not going for current, get ISO images and uncompress them (it will save you time ).

yea but slackware 8.1? i think they have had enough time...
its just not there
i've downloaded 8.1 and its at ~ 2.2g and still missing files

Some of the sites may have already stopped hosting 8.

Well in Slackware's page it only shows older versions in Slackware's ftp server, so I guess Slackware people assumes there are not there anymore (in the mirrors).

yea but many stll do and they dont have all the files

for instance the mirror carroll.cac.psu.edu only lists one iso for slackware 8
many mirrors seem to list some source files, but not all of them

What I meant, is why don't you get them from the official ftp site instead of mirrors?
I know, it may be slow but it's guaranteed that you've all files.

i'm guess i'm just wondering why they don't carry the files and if theres easy a way to tell what they miss
