Does slamd64 ship with pine, if so you have pico which is very similar to nano.

Hi samac,

I found it.

$ which pico
/usr/bin/pico

Tks.

I haven't run "vi" for prolonged time after nano. I forget its commands. Actually what I need to do is editing configure files as root. Find/Search/Go_to_line_no/Save, etc. will be sufficient.

I hate vi/vim ... the commands are so obscure ! and it leaves all the damn ~temporary files all over, and I can't turn it off !!! it should be off by default ! aaaarrggghhhh !!!

nano is great, and if pico is like nano, then it must be great too

It shouldn't take too much modification to the SlackBuild script to make it build just fine on slamd64. Check with some of the guys in #slamd64 on freenode's irc network for pointers.

I got "nano" for slamd64 from a folk on its forum. He created it with checkinstall, the small package created by a Mexican.
