Where is the KDE splash screen?

Tried installing a new splash screen in /usr/share/apps/ksplash/pics but it won't display.

Where is it in slack?

Why does slack do things different than other distros? Is this arrogance or what?

To tell you the truth I am really starting to dislike slackware. I go to a linux site for some things to try then I end up discovering that slackware does it another way.

Slackware does everything the STANDARD way. You're just use to Redhat/Mandrake/et all changing the location needlessly.

As for your question, I don't know, I dont use KDE.

Do you know what the origional splash screen is called? If you do, just do a "locate".

Mandrake also does not have it by default,so does debian. You have to create the /usr/share/apps/ksplash/pics directory. You will not find it also in slackware as it is embedded(I think) somewhere.

And yes, I tried "locate" and "whereis".

I changed this a few days ago, try putting the .png files in:

systemwide:
/opt/kde/share/apps/ksplash/pics

user:
$your_user_dir/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/pics

regards
Terje

Thanks,w3edr5t, that worked for me!

There should be some sort of "Tips and Tricks " portion here for Slackware and this "tip" should be included.

Can somebody here start one?
