where is elvis coming from?
in previous release elvis is the official version
dated from 2003 I think (elvis 2.2.0). I dont know If you people are aware of this fork https://github.com/mbert/elvis which contains the last changes from the original author (elvis 2.2.1-prerelease) plus several bugfixes worked on current boxes and is actively mantained too (days ago I posted a bug and it got solved the next day). How about the coming release consider this branch? I've been using this version on a daily basis for at least 3 years and I havent had any troubles. |

BTW, "requests for -current" would have been a better place to post this. |

One problem I have with elvis is when I have to edit very large text files. When the swap file reaches 128MBytes then elvis does nothing but the CPU is occupied 100% for ever. You can increase the maximum size of editable file with the -B option but at the end result is the same: elvis does nothing and 100% cpu forever. I think the maximun size for a file is 65536 * block size (maximun is 8 kbytes).
When I need to edit files as large I turn to vim, but the problem with vim is that it takes a lot of RAM (unlike Elvis). |

The story I heard was that: he was caught in a trap, and he couldn't go on... or something along those lines.
