If something is not included in slackbuilds.org, I usually get the source and create a .tgz package with src2pkg or manually.

Sometimes I use the Salix repos. I use Gnome from GSB so my gnome dependencies come from their repos.

I always try SBo first, then Slacky.eu if SBo does not have what I need.

In the few cases where I could not find a build script I have adapted an SBo skeleton to build the packages.

I never install prebuilt packages other than from the Slackware tree itself and am a very happy camper!

EDIT
After posting I recalled having installed Robby Workman's Open Office under Slackware 12.1, and I also used Alien Bob's libdvdcss package as I recall, but neither of them is "out of their tree" so my original post is still accurate.
/EDIT

I take them from SBo, if the package I'm looking for doesn't exist there I try somewhere else like in the alienBOB's repo or rworkman's repo, if that isn't there, I try on slacky.eu, if I fail again. I write a SlackBuild by myself.

I use very few programs that aren't already included in a full install of Slackware, but when I do need an additional package:

First, I check /extra
Then I check SlackBuilds.org
If it's not there, I check Alien Bob's SlackBuild repo
and if it's not there, I write a SlackBuild myself and submit it to SBo

Same here, as already mentioned:

http://slackbuilds.org/

http://connie.slackware.com/~alien/slackbuilds/

http://rlworkman.net/pkgs/

For dealing with SlackBuilds (from slackbuilds.org) easily and quickly:
http://www.sbopkg.org/

For building Slackware packages from source or converting other distros' packages:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/...nload/src2pkg/

If SBo doesn't have it and I can't find it from Eric or Robby, I generally build my own manually.

Yep. All of the above for me as well. I also use gnashley's src2pkg utility.

I'd rather trust building my own package than use anything pre-built from a repo like slacky.eu etc.

If I don't find the package(s) available on SBo, then I just build it myself. I've never used src2pkg but have heard good things about it from regular forum members/Slackware users.

I only use slacky.eu and corresponding ebuild/PKGBUILD/*.spec/rules files as a guide to building my own slackbuild.
