where's gnome-config?


i just installed slack9.0
and i'm compiling galeon..

locate gnome-config returns
/usr/share/gtk-doc/html/libgnome/libgnome-gnome-config.html
/usr/include/libgnome-2.0/libgnome/gnome-config.h


checking if NautilusView Galeon component is wanted... no
checking for gnome-config... no
checking for GNOME - version >= 1.2.8... no

well it will be in the gnome-devel pakage normally, no idea wether this is a seperate package for slack or not, is for any RPM based distro. have you tried galeon 1.3 though? uses gnome 2 not 1.4

yeah i'm using galeon 1.3 now
but quiet not satisfied

can't go back with side button
can't modify key mapping as i could in 1.2.*

it's on slack

heh that's why i don't use 1.3!

yeah i wish i could go back
actually i tried, but it takes loads of low version library
so i was afraid to mess up system and stopped..

1.3.3 seems also slower than 1.2.8

I am assuming the new Gnome doesn't use gnome-config cause when I try to install enlightenment from source it uses gnome-config to get the menu entries I believe, for the gnome section, and theres never anything in there and if you look for an error message is says it can't find gnome-config...

I also have probs with gnome-config. I can't compile som apps cuz gnome-config is missing.... =( !?

JoooN , i found gnome-config in one of slack 8.1 packages
u can find what packages have it by looking at MANIFEST file
(the file is on any slack mirror)

gnome-devel hell on slack

is there another way than starting the compile engines from source.

converting rpms from other distris didnt work out
