Slackware is akin to a fine wine; I savor each release. I don't sweat it waiting for the next version of Slackware. It will arrive.

I predict that it will be released on September 10, the day after my vacation ends, the day I go back to work.

Interesting to know that the Slackware release cycles are related to your vacations. Makes them easier to predict.

Slackware 14.0 will be released when Chuck Norris gives the approval stamp, it`s not related to your vacantion.

Chuck uses Slackware? I thought it was more stripped down LFS.

Regards.

If Chuck Norris wrote Linux, the kernel would always panic.

I think September 6, +/- 1 day.

RC1: Aug 9.
RC2: Aug 16 (7 days).
RC3: Aug 24 (8 days).
RC4: Aug 30 (6 days).

That averages out to 7 with a margin of error of 1. August 30 + 7 days = September 6.

Maybe we should not completely discard the possibility that an RC5 appear.

Please don't beat me. And don't call me Cassandra.

I favor simplicity over ease of use, and reliability of a release over having it available sooner. We already have -current for those than can benefit from having new features now.

I'd rather Slackware 14 be as bug free as is "reasonable". Otherwise there is no reason to wait for a "stable" release, as we could just keep using a -current snapshot that met our personal technical needs.

I favor getting it right over getting it sooner. There are advantages to speedy releases and having both a stable release (13.37) and -current available to us is the best of both arguments.

We have -current, let's not rush stable. ( Says a man who's been waiting for the next release since late winter. )

I'll duck now while an assortment of items are tossed at my head.

EDIT: Looks like I may have posted in the wrong thread. There's so many threads related to the new release I'm getting them mixed up.
