Whats wrong with Conky?

I have been having a terrible time with Conky in -current
and I have tried conky from SlackBuilds, SalixOS repos, etc

Conky for some reason only shows half of itself onscreen in all
my slack installs, the top half is always off the screen and it's not
following any .conkyrc I use; as no matter what I put in there its always at top right, even if I put in .conkyrc to be top left, etc

This isn't happening in any other distros that I use conky
only Slackware and this is across 2 different PC's

So, is conky just junk or what could be the issue!?

OK
I had to use

own_window_type override

I was using

own_window_type desktop

wonder why its only in Slackware that I have to change it?

so heres screenshots before and after editing it
