What's the best way to get LaTeX syntax highlighting in vim on slackware?

How do the TeX slackers around here get syntax highlighting for LaTeX in vim? I know a lot of you guys like to edit .tex files with vim from what I've seen on the forums, so I'd really like to know what the common solutions around here are. Is it a simple .vimrc appendage or do I have to go download and install a few packages? Googling about the issue turns out a whole bunch of old results, conflicting results, and results that don't necessarily pertain to slackware. Also, are there any other vim + latex gems the slackers of the internet would like to share?

Maybe what you need is adding "set t_Co=256" in your .vimrc ;)

You might need "syn on" in your .vimrc

Beautiful! Both of those worked perfectly and I now have an awesome LaTeX + Linux setup on my computer!

Honestly, I was a bit reluctant to post this and expected at least one RTFM or GTFQ (Google the ... question) n00b, even though that was the first place I looked, but you guys gave me the help I needed within hours. I love the Slackware community!
