I needed text2gif today. I notice that its package, libungif, isn't in Slackware anymore. Fortunately I still have a copy, and it works. Is there a similar program in another package?

According to /usr/doc/giflib-5.1.1/NEWS, text2gif (and other tools) have been renamed :

Thanks! 'gifecho' isn't exactly an intuitive name, but it works. The gif produced by text2gif is 280K; that produced by gifecho is 9K; plus it has a man page.
