What hardware?

I'm currently running 9.1 on my old and not-terribly-powerful system, bought in the days when 64MB of RAM was quite impressive.

It's a bit slow when it comes to running Mozilla thru Gnome and the like.. so I'm looking forward to buying that new computer I've been promising myself.

What would you consider the minimum essential performance you'd want in a Slack computer for just simple websurfing and occasional gaming?

I think 1Ghz would suffice, with 128Mb of RAM. A GeForce 2 card is enough for preety much every game. Enemy Territory runs on my GF2 like a charm. Nicer then on some newer cards but with Windows.
I have an Athlon 2100, 568Mb of RAM. GeForce2 Videocard. It's very responsive, almost never slows down. Even with my parents forwarding X to their computer which is a tad old.
