It would be nice to have last tmux in next slackware.

We need some kind of orbital weapons platform (I mean, who doesn't, right?)

but I don't think we're going to get it in 14.2

Re alsa-plugins, that one needs to go through Pat - an email to him explaining the rationale would be best.

I'd like to see mozilla-firefox-l10n-* and mozilla-thunderbird-l10n-* localization packages.

aria2 would be a nice addition to Slackware. It's a small download utility which can do parallel downloads, something which, as far as I know, is not possible with either curl or wget.

Xarchiver!

It is a GTK+2 archiver that supports many compression formats. It is better than Ark in my opinion. There is even a plugin for Thunar that adds right-click options that depends on Xarchiver.

I actually use it all the time. I have done for years but very simple to build.

Pat wrote in another thread not that long ago:

Which brings up a side comment... when I started this project, it really wasn't my intent to provide every possible package, application, desktop, etc. My goal was to make a platform upon which things could be built easily and that followed upstream as closely as was possible. Of course, some applications had to be included, but the idea was to try to stick to the essentials that everyone would miss if they weren't there.
Maybe I'm pessimistic but IIRC our BDFL is often reluctant to do add something to Slackware. And also to remove something from Slackware, but that would be another topic.

On the positive side if we can convince him that the software we request to add _is_ "an essential that everyone would miss if it weren't there" then there is some hope

The only problem of it is, how much does said package promote to the general user, is it easy to use, does it require new dependencies, does it conflict with any other packages, etc?

This is why SBo and /extras exist to allow the user some flexibility to create their own experience from Slackware while keeping Slackware itself to a generally functional minimum. Plus, the system is growing larger and larger. Perhaps Didier's topic of down-scaling might eventually need to be addressed. Keeping Slackware at one DVD for the main install should be the goal, but maybe sometimes scaling that back to a single CD-ROM might be worth looking into as well, but that's speculatory.

Aehm yes I like Fluxbox *lol*, no but really there would be more time and energy for basic stuff.
I second the motion. I like to think we have desktop royalty quietly tucked away, and it
may be about time to use it. (Shameless Plug Alert) FVWM may only be a window manager but it
certainly has enough tools included to brew custom desktop enviroments, or whatever they are
calling them anymore.

Probably you're referring to a thread from someone else where I have posted some dumb comment or suggestion? Downsizing can be fun at time, but IMHO just fun not useful: at my local store I can't find an USB stick smaller than 4GB any more, and usage of optical media to install is clearly decreasing.

I want an intelligent personal assistant like Cortana. This assistant whose name is yet unknown will help me with stuff, warning me when writing wrong in code lines, when doing stupid command lines, or when visiting sites with malicious exploits e.t.c. This assistant must have a nice voice, somewhat relaxing voice but that can change depending on the Slackware user. This assistant may take control of the Slackware system if the assistant realizes the Slackware user cannot handle the system with a warning like "RTFM" while locking the computer showing only manpages.

Considering both Pat and Eric use KDE, I don't forsee that happening any time soon.
