I do a little bit of everything, but nothing out of the ordinary. Outside of system maintenance I don't think it would matter which distro I was using.
Accounting (heavy-duty stuff beyond a typical spreadsheet)
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) work
Database management (beyond the typical "office" database)
I have Slackware 13.1 on my laptop so the all the basic tasks like Email, Browsing, Office docs, personal accounting, listening music, ripping music, ripping dvds, authoring home videos, bash scripting, a bit of database management (via SSH on other network machines) and non-fancy web design for my personal site.
I have a Windows 7 on the same laptop but I hardly use it...may be once a month to keep the software up-to-date.
I run a home file server/content filter. Slack + Dansguardian + Squid + Samba. Keeps most of the internet carp away from my kids. On my desktop its Slack + GSB.
In my Former life I used to program a fair share of Python apps (usually with Wx), occasionally in Ruby, along with web development, copywriting and so on...but I'm pretty much leaving that for the 18-to-40ish crowd anymore.
Now I'm simply writing (urban fantasy & high fantasy), formatting manuscripts either in OOo or Kile, depending on what submission guidelines are for a particular publisher. Anything else I do is surfing, email, a little IM, using Ktorrent or Transmission to keep up with favorite tv shows, watch a few (very few) DVDs, and listen to music via CDs, Jamendo, Magnatune or radio streams.
I could get away with using anything else...Debian, Fedora, openSUSE, Trisquel or Ubuntu...for this, but too many years of imprinting on the Slackware way and my control freak nature keeps me in Slack.
Distribution: Slackware (personalized Window Maker), Mint (customized MATE)

According to the poll results I use Slackware as a typical Slackware user. I pointed six areas and until now each of them gained more than 50% of votes. I always liked to think about me as someone original. Now I see I'm not original among Slackware users, though I still believe I'm original as Slackware user. According to DistroWatch.com Slackware users (twelve position today) are less original than FreeBSD users (sixteen position) but more original than Arch users (nine position). I tried both FreeBSD and Arch. FreeBSD is too raw for me. I wasn't able to configure crucial services for me even with the kind help of FreeBSD community. Arch is much more suitable for my needs. Anyway I don't intend to migrate somewhere. So far I use Slackware for ten years and I'm very glad about it.
everything, its my all around desktop workstation from ssh'ing, office, development, audio/video/pictures(multimedia), web browsing, DB, etc etc and even some gaming, ofcourse I still run some other apps like most games from windows world with virtualization but it runs in slackware.
only the GIS field in poll i have not tried it in.
@zoran119, @hughetorrance I can only use my Linux-es offline so I have windows most of the time but it doesn't matter. My posts show that I'm a true Linux user.
I use slackware for everything I can learn how to do on a computer. Never crashed unless I crashed it. Ease of install (only distro that booted my pc, starting with distro8. Security and stability are major Slackware features.
Slackware just works, its flexible, provides loads of customizing options, & software free plus the opportunity to grow beyond it.
I can customize Slackware to run whatever I want well, be it graphic production box, desktop publishing, multi-media TV, Music file server, Game Box, mail, web, printer, servers, network, or just a fascinating Desktop from which you can browse the internet, read emails, have live video chats, compose letters, watch movies, accumulate music libraries to listen to & share, copy DVDs or CDs. *I don't expect any one set of configurations to run equally strong for all functions except common tasks.
Any programs or applications I need, can be made for use on Slackware, always a way. All the software you can learn to use, its free & stable. Don't want to take the time to tailor Slackware to suit your taste or needs, look for ready built distros that target your interests out of the box... point and click plenty of distros you can try.
I use it to win friends and impress enemies and to install the little Slack icon on the post...oooops Debian this time !

OT: You're right that it's not important but, if you want, you can edit your user-agent string to say what you'd like or disable the option altogether under 'Edit Options>Show User Agent in Posts' in your LQ settings.
Standard desktop stuff.. web, email, music, video, etc. I selected "office stuff" in the poll because occasionally, I'll need to write a letter (though I do so in LaTeX, which I really don't class as "graphic design"). My netbook is used the same way, though I have used it to present at conferences.
