What do you use your Slack for?

This is a curiosity poll to see what other slackers are using their systems for.

Since moving from a windows based system (primarilary used for gaming) I have found myself doing more in the world of web development and programming.

I was just wondering what everyone else in the Slack galaxy is up to.

I run a small business on slack, everything from webpage, to correspondence, to accounts, to banking, to advertising artwork, in fact just everything.

I even get time to listen to music, radio and play a very occasional game.

I use Slack for personal use only: web access, email, listening to music, am learning C++ and will hopefully be using the box for testing a website soon.

My superserver is running Slack 10.1. Apache 2 compiled from source, PHP4, MySQL, Sendmail... the only things that are unadultered from their Slack packages are SSH (behind a firewall, *not* internet-accessable), and IMAPd.

On my laptop, I do mostly internet stuff. Surfing, e-mail, IRC, and I listen to MP3s. Also running Slack 10.1. On the notebook, I also play a few non-CPU-intensive games, such as Dope Wars and LinCity. Can't overlook Scorched Earth, and DosBox helps me play a bunch of my old games, too.

On my desktop, also Slack 10.1 I play games through Cedega, I also do some video editing with Blender and renders for a couple of video game mods I'm working on with RadGameTools Bink&Smacker. I also use it for "work": I earn my pocket money by converting LPs and tapes to CD/MP3 for cash, and do my audio editing with Audacity. It doesn't have a Click&Pop filter yet, but it does have everything else I need to do the job.

I'm hoping to establish dominance over the known universe.
Also, I'd like to own and operate a small chain of dry cleaning businesses.

Hello,

When it comes down to it all, I think of my Slacky as a friend. He has his mood swings once in a while, but he's very loyal.

I use it mainly for recording lectures. Although that seems to be a simple task, I have several networked computers recording at once to make matters a bit more complicated.

Later Slackdudes,
Mords

I used Slackware for my 4 in 1 computer, it were my desktop, webserver, email server and file server, it did very well until we had a falling out over a pendrive. Of course I blamed it all on Slackware, it were nought do with me

Only a couple of times a week I switch over to WinXP for NetMeeting (since the other side has NetMeeting only and there are sound issues between Net-Gnomemeeting). Other than that, I'm entirely on Slackware. Linux/Unix is the right environment to write math (I mean using LaTeX), and I do a little bit of programming. Had a couple of games in WinXP but I got addicted to BzFlag so my gaming is now on Linux, too.

I use my desktop slack machine for IRC, E-mail, web, and teaching myself C.
I have a slack server sitting next to it, hosting 120gigs of FTP, Ventrilo server and my printer to a windows (room mate) and a linux client.

My plans for the server is to stream OGGs (once I rip all my CDs to OGG).
