What discs do I need?

I'm going to buy some Slackware CDs. I've seen 4 at the Slack Store and other sites have only two. Is there anything important on the other two extras? Thanks.

Disk 1 & 2 are the install CD's.

3 & 4 are source code, manuals, extra packages, zipslack & old packages.

Define need :)

You get a complete Slackware up & running with
disks 1 & 2 ... disk 3 and 4 contain a few extras
and the sources.

You really should buy the boxed 4 CD set from
the slackware site if you want to support Volker,
the others just sell a burn of the downloaded ISOs
for disk 1 and 2.

Cheers,
Tink

Can I get manuals somewhere else? And, what do you mean by extra packages? Will things like OpenOffice.org be on the main disks? I'm a beginner so I don't think I need source code.

OpenOffice isn't on the first two discs, but there is productivity software included in them.

All you need are the first two discs. Anything else can be downloaded. (why download a 650mb ISO so you can gain access to a 75mb file?)

Can't think why it wouldn't, though you could download the latest unless dialup is an issue or something. Just untar it and run setup or install or whatever. Piece of cake.
