What could go wrong (put Apache on the air)

What could go wrong if I open my router to pass https and ssh (for that I would use port forwarding) and got dynamic DNS?

Can I serve webpages without tweaking anything? Is Apache inherently unsafe?

Thanks,
Rand

Your computer could blow up.

What do you mean, what could go wrong? If apache wasn't safe then vast parts of the internet wouldn't be here. Someone could try and hack you through SSH, but thats VERY easy to stop (don't allow root login through SSH, and use something like denyhosts).

Yeah I understand how to secure SSH. What I want to know is do you have to be an Apache expert and change all sorts of files or is it safe out of the box?

Apache should be safe out of the box, serving static HTML web pages. The same cannot be said of certain PHP applications you could decide to run.

Thanks, AlienBob. I don't plan to run PHP now. Just want to serve doc and other static pages.
