Weird, weird problem
Prelim info: Dual-Boot WinXP/Slack11 with LiLo installed to the MBR. I'm lazy so Slack is installed on one partition (with the exception of the swap). I'm using the huge26.s Kernel.
Ok at first I thought 11 was installing wrong and after the bios check it was hanging but my HDD light kept blinking. The other day after the light stopped blinking I tried logging in and starting X just to see what would happen. Lo and behold KDE started  Yeaaaah, thats really weird. I am a pretty big noob when it comes to Linux but I can see thats really odd. I would either like to know how to get the start-up messages to show or how to get KDE to start up so I have a login promt (ATM I'm doing blind logins :D ) Any help is apprecieated. |
so basically it was a black screen and you blindly loged on and X started...right? if so then framebuffers isn't compiled in the kernel you could either recompile the kernel or (faster) edit /etc/lilo.conf and uncomment
Code:
vga = normal ...and run lilo (obviously) |
kk, thanks.
