Weird: Root has more screensavers than users (10.1/KDE)

Hi everybody,

I'm not sure whether to post this here, but I'll do, since I use Slack. If I do wrong with this, anybody please move it where it belongs :-)

I have some sort of "weird" error: I'm using Slack 10.1 and KDE 3.3.2 from Slackware CD2, and when I'm choosing a screensaver within kcontrol (or by right-clicking desktop and.... choosing desktop prefs or whatever it's called in english), the root account has far more choices than any normal user account. I ran xscreensaver-demo from user's account, and there were the same choices as in the KDE menu of root.
Has anybody any idea what's responsible for this crazy behaviour?

While we are at weird errors, read my sig if you want ;-)

Thanks & Greetings,

Seppel

it's a problem with xscreensaver. There are many solutions on the forum, just search for something like "KDE xscreensaver" should do. I could never solve it on my system (not that I tried very hard). Good luck

Problem solved!

Thanks, KMcD. Sorry for not searching hard enough and wasting your time :-)

The problem is solved by adding the normal users to the "shadow" group, for whatever it's good for. I don't think this is the way I like it to be in my dreams, but at least I can use some neat GL thingys as screensaver now :-)

Greetings,

Seppel
