Weird problem with a 8139 chipset NIC
Hello,
I just managed to install slack 10.0 on a sata drive, and after countless kernel recompiles managed to boot a 2.6.8.1 kernel, and I now have a problem with the NIC, which is a TRENDnet 10/100Mbps PCI card, with a Realtek 8139 chipset.
In the 2.6.8.1 kernel I have enabled the 8139too module under the 10/100Mbps section, and lsmod shows :
8139too - used : 0
crc32 - used : 1
Don't know if it's normal or not, first time I'm using this NIC on slackware.
The thing is any site responds to ping, but anything else but that (ex. :http, ftp) doesn't work at all. Lynx can't connect to anything, neither can Opera.
The net is configured with netconfig set on dynamic DHCP, and indeed dhcp assigns an IP address and subnet mask which shows up in "ifconfig eth0".
What might be the problem ?
