Angry weird nforce2 problem

I have the nforce2 chipset and I am running slackware 9.1.
I downloaded the nvidia drivers for the nforce2 and installed them according to the instructions.

I added
Code:
alias eth0 nvnet
alias sound-slot-0 nvaudio
alias usb-interface usb-ohci
to my /etc/modules.conf folder.

I rebooted and then typed ifconfig and got

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:04:5A:5B:FD:82
inet addr:192.168.0.103 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST NOTRAILERS RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:1116862 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:956442 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
RX bytes:0 (0 Mb) TX bytes: 0 (0 Mb)
Interrupt:17 Base address:0xec00

good! linux sees my eth0 card... BUT i cant ping anything...
In windows the ethernet card works just fine!

any help?

Ratbert,

Newbie here...
I have a problem with my nforce2 audio in slackware 9.1 also. How did you know to put in those alias commands? Is that listed somewhere at the nvidia site? Did you also have problems with your ethernet and USB? My ethernet appears to be working fine, and my USB mouse worked without a hitch.

Thanks
Ryan
