wake-on-lan customization in slack --current net scripts?

Hello all, I was wondering, is there a way to customize what the pc will wake up with using the stock tools in Slackware? Or do I need some extra package? Specifically, my one pc that I just enabled wake-on-lan will wake up with a ping, and even if a windows pc on the lan comes on line, even a debian box on the lan wakes it up. I don't have any mapped drives from windows, or anything in the fstab of the debian box. I don't know why it's waking up, but it does. Is there a way to make the box only wake up with a 'magic packet' using the stock onboard tools that come with Slack, or is this something that is fixed in the bios. My bios only has 'wake on pci device event' and that's it. Thanks in advance

Hi,

Look at 'wol'; "wol implements Wake On LAN functionality in a small program. It wakes up hardware that is Magic Packet compliant."

aha! yes that's it.

And I combined with rc.local

/usr/sbin/ethtool -s eth0 wol g

Perhaps there's a better place for this line other than rc.local, but it works for now. Thanks onebuck!
