Unless I am misunderstanding .... The beauty and the reason for the extremely high cost of VMWare is that it allows you to create virtual machines within the host. It sounds like in your case the Windows OS will be your host. No need to partition anything. Just load VMWare and from what I can remember you simply boot in per VMWare's instructions. I have Windows as my host and 3 other Linux guests.
Hope that helps .......

When you use VMWare, and you set up a VM, it asks you what directory you want the VM to be in, and what size you want the VM to occupy. Then all the stuff in that directory will be the virtual "partition" for the VM. No need to partition the hard drive, that's the beauty of VMWare. Once you are through with the VM, you can just remove that directory.

Well i make a Virtual Disk for Linux.Booting with Slack etc..but when it comes to the installation part it says that installer cannot find any Linux partition to install Slack9 !!(About the fdisk ..i ment to format the Virtual Disk)

PS: i use scsi.s at the boot promt..i try to fisk /dev/sda but i don't know how to use (c)fisk to create a native Linux Partition and Swap.Command : "fdisk /dev/sda" does not work and I'm installing from a CD-ROM without having installed VMWare Tools coz again i do not know how to do it with Slack
Never mind, I figured 'em out
