vlc widgets error

I installed vlc-0.8.6-i586-1.tgz, gtk+2-2.10.9-i586-2.tgz and wxgtk-2.6.3-i586-1.tgz.
When I try to open file in vlc I get this error:
Code:
skins2 interface error: no suitable dialogs provider found (hint: compile the wxWidgets plugin, and make sure it is loaded properly)
I dont know how to properly load widgets?

Looks like it needs some type of plug-in.

Have you tried this vlc package ?

No. I installed vlc-0.8.6-i586-1.tgz from http://slackware-current.net/ .
But package from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-slackware.html which is vlc-0.8.5-i686-3.tgz
also gives the same error.
Vlc works only when I open files directly from file managers.

If I remember it right you have to compile it at least with "--enable-config" (so that you have an executable "wx-config" afterwards. Sorry to say I never got that working though when I compiled it myself.

never used --enable-config

i still compile base and gtk separately
iirc...unicode, shared, gui and gtk2
optionally optimize and prefix of your choice
