VirtualBox guest randomly fails to connect to network

Situation: when I start a guest operating system in VirtualBox, sometimes it works fine, and sometimes it just fails to connect to the bridged network, and I have to shut it down doing a power off, and try again until it works.

Host: Slackware 64 14.1
Guest: Slackware 14.1
Virtualbox : 5.0.14 r105127

It only fails when I start the slackware guest. It always works fine when I start a windows guest.

It doesn't matter if I use the gui or if I use vboxmanage from command line, sometimes it fails and sometimes it works fine.

Any suggestions? I don't even know what information to look for.

Have you tried the adapter type Paravirtualized Network (virtio-net)?

It is located in the advanced section of the network adapter settings in the GUI.

I had the same issue with some of my Linux guests and this solved it for me.

It's working fine so far. Thanks a lot!
