Video Problems with boot and startx

Good morning,

Whenever I boot Slack 13.7 32 bit up ( in VMWARE ) I get a constant option right at boot that I have an undefined video mode every time. I changed lilo.conf in /etc to reflect vga=normal and run /sbin/lil... It goes away. I don't like this option but it works. Also tried converting to a Hex format as suggested in a search but no luck there.

The more pressing issue is whenever I log out of startx/KDE i get a screen full of errors. When I reboot, startx is back to a low resolution even after i changed it to a high res.

Any ideas on this? it's hard to see the full list of errors due to the boot video mode being so small.

Thanks

adding this line
Quote:

append " video=800x600"
or
Quote:

append=" video=1024x768"
to the linux entry of you /etc/lilo.conf and rerunning lilo should make the the console text easier to see
