Video problems on KDE

Just recently breathed life into an old 500mhz desktop I had laying around and loaded slack10 with the 2.4 Kernel. All works fine in the shell but as soon as I launch KDE through startx, the monitor times out and says it can't display that resolution. I know that there is an easy fix to this but honestly can't remember what to config. Can someone help me out?

You can manually change the resolution and vertical & horizontal rates by editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf (may be XF86Config if you have Slackware 9), or use xorgconfig or xorgcfg programs.
